You Are Chosen

Do you ever feel like you just don't measure up...like you are inadequate or less than? Do you look at the zillions of posts on social media of people who seem to have achieved wonderful things while you grapple with the notion that on every turn you fall short?  Have you ever been there? I think that if we are truly honest with ourselves we all can say that at some point or another in our lives we have been there and felt that way. If I can be a little transparent for a moment, I can reveal that this struggle of feeling inadequate has been one that has come up in my life time and time again. It is such a sinking, horrible feeling. However earlier this summer, I stumbled across a verse in scripture that I have read before many times but this time it hit me like a ton of bricks! I was reading a publication for women by Moody Bible Institute. The reading lead me to dig into God's Word in John 15:16. It reads "You did not choose me but I chose you and appointed you that you may go and bear fruit - fruit that will last..." This verse had me tearing up in moments which I guess isn't completely strange for me since I cry a lot especially reading the Bible. However, in that moment I was overwhelmed with God's love. He chose me! He chose you! Doesn't it always feel good to be chosen?! Then on the flip side, doesn't it feel excruciating to NOT be chosen. When we constantly compare ourselves against the world and it's expectations for us as women, we will feel inadequate, unworthy, left out and not chosen. But....this is not a grammatically correct way to begin a sentence but this is a pretty BIG but! But - when we view ourselves through the lens of God's Word and see what He sees when He looks at us, we can feel noticed, known and chosen. This realization to me is like breathing in fresh, cool air after a sudden rain. It is revitalizing and freeing! You and me were not only created by God but we are completely known by Him and chosen for a purpose! The story you are living is not an accident. Whether single or married, a mom or a mom-in-waiting, working in an office or working from home, retired or somewhere in between it all, YOU were chosen by God for a unique purpose. You have a job to do for His glory! There is a splendid promise in all of this. When we align ourselves with the path God wants us to walk and we walk in it with all our hearts, He is faithful and will bear fruit through our lives - fruit that will last! So go ahead, girl! Live your story and throw away all the lies that you are not good enough. It's all false! If you are walking close beside our Father then you are exactly where God wants you to be!
